Scan Dot Org Nimbin's weekly podzine
This week a few sinister people get served with their just desserts, attracting Martin's most heartfelt acknowlegements.
- Particularly to Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, and Australia's Prime Miniature John Howard.
As the issue of rascism is scooped up into the media once again, Martin attempts a sticky run through the webbed maze of corporate state manipulation.
Fed up with these revelations, admissions, and denials of sinister actions, Graham and Martin decide to just simply *eat* these people and institutions, clearing the planet of a sludgy, slimy coverage of scummy stuff.
Tired of hearing about the Sydney beach riots all week, Martin interviews Ian, a former resident of Cronulla, one of the suburbs affected by the riots. He then tries to find out more about the media line: " ...men of middle Eastern appearance ..."
- Further - and more - on anti-Government propaganda about alcohol use in Australia.
And then, when the Pentagon wants to spend a whopping 300 million Au$$ for leaking feelgood stories about the US into the world media ... - Martin wants to get onto the bandwagon, and cleverly claws back some badly needed funds for our community radio station.
Finally but not least ... a short presentation for the local Soup Kitchen, and some other odds and ends, to round out this generally chaotic week, here in Australia.

A delightful opening with profound thoughts on cleanliness, godliness, and birthday greetings to Holy Rastas. Latest, hottest stories on the hot Moslem unerwear model, Michelle Leslie, and thoughts on hypocrisy before some evocative music from the 'Australian Dream' CD - moving poems by an Asylum seeker in the Baxter Detention Centre set to inspirational music.
Some observations on the smoking habits of inhabitants of the North Coast of NSW Australia. (Could Cannabis use be the gateway to tobacco abuse and addiction?) The complicated task of legalising opium in Afghanistan. And why did Michelle Leslie resign her job?
A little adjusting of the levels before we brace ourselves for a riotous and outrageous Part 2.

Bob and Michael argue over letters to the Editor. Will drug swab testing test the continuum of cultural mobility of the local community? Perhaps a strategic alliance with truck drivers is the answer. More Drug News headlines - Michelle's job prospects, new cocaine in old wine bottles as a smuggling ploy ... etc. etc. ...
A studio visit from the Little People, more on the Birth of Tosh, and a celebratory reggae beat.
Just about enough time left to make the weekly awards - will it be to the Victorian Attorney General for his 'mercy flight' to Singapore? Or should it go to the Cannabis Heroes - the Ganja Faeries who saved us from the choppers .... ?
More random interruptions and Gratuitous Sedition, inlcuding Martin's now famous Amanda Beastley Mix ... awesome!

An exclusive interview with the Venezuelan representative to Australia, October 30 2005. Nelson Davila talks to Warwick Fry about the changes that controversial President Hugo Chavez has wrought. Most of this is in Spanish, but an English translation should come soon. Nelson responds to questions about whether Hugo Chavez should be seen as a demagogue (as represented in the US media), what is the response to calls to assassinate Hugo Chavez by senior US official Pat Robertson ("there are 23 million Hugo Chavez - if they kill him, they will have to kill another 23 million Venezuelans ... ") and what difference has his election made ("from one of the highest rates of illiteracy, in 5 years we have achieved one of the *highest* literacy rates in Latin America). Time to learn why social welfare programs work. Venezuela has experienced a 10% plus growth rate as a response to the Chavez' governments diversion of oil money into social programs.

Lara Pullin is an Australian woman who recently returned from Venezuela, where it seems an unreported revolution is under way. In this podcast preview she describes a community where the police are banned and citizens maintain their own law and order free from intervention. Community issues are resolved within and by the community itself.
Lara was attending a function at the Venezuelan Embassy in Canberra where I also met the new representative of the Venezuelan Government . This interview arose out of a discussion comparing conditions in our respective countries. I told him a little about Nimbin, and how Police Surveillance Cameras were installed at huge expense while our community based security organisation, the 'Jungle Patrol' has had its funding withdrawn. The Venezuelan representative was intrigued with the history of Nimbin and sends revolutionary greetings to Community Radio Station 2NimFM.

El Presidente Bob in an intensive search for things to go wrong attempts to kick off in a provocative fit of applied morosity. His sullen mood is dispelled by the arrival of Michael B. covered in sweat and a disappointing lack of blood and tears, with the latest drug news, which cheers him up immensely. Great coverage of media behaviour and the Michelle Corby case in Bali. Underwear models in gaol? Where is the media? The media needs watching (and possibly, new lingerie) and Bob and Mike have suggestions. Clone the steaks and stone the crows! Now we get to know what really happened on Animal Farm! And why we're warming up? Never mind - its based on disposable fossil records. Grotesque exaggerations. With reggae, of course. A market projection of Nimbin as the world's Cannabis Capital, while the automobile industry collapses around it, is postulated as a post-postmodern alternative to postmodern modern post-industrial society. Which ... begs the question ... Does the Holden invite penis envy? ... and - who cares, if anyone. - And why? -
Into the second hour and some nasty aboriginal hip hop rap. The guys are going strong. Aaah! Then there's the Skatepark. Aaaaah -the Skatepark ... Who cares when the kids don't care? Quick skateover to Indonesia, and the politics and the radical extreme in the military establishment there. What to do with your army when 'your' nation is *not* under attack. And why we should want to believe Johnny Howhard. The habits of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. What do you do with people you don't like? Good wrap up with Really Serious News. (ie: Politics). Smoulder for Local Member! (Why we might need obligatory' not 'compulsory' voting). Does anyone out there know the difference? Why does Little Johnny Howhard want to make it 'voluntary'? (We've seen the results in the USA, - do we have to replicate them?).
Hey, nice news-gleaning, guys!

Martin lashes back with his notorious Podzine. An on air personal take on the week's politics. And wait! That's not all! Martin introduces his sci-fi audio drama that warps the present into future tensions ... (or should that be the other way round ... ) Get aquainted with Petrov, the blogger from the next century in "The Blogger". Back to the present tense in Nimbin town for a profile of local artist Jesse Bowden. A swift mix between the eyes with "angst radio" (PSA). Keep kool with the computer user tip of the week, and then prepare Howard for your reaction to his New Police Powers. Nimbin voices in the abortion debate and a ten minute talk on the Post Capitalist future with Harry, Peter and Sophia with their suggestions on 'how to see things now'.
More giggles and mixed feelings about MacDonalds PR for farmers. Just a community announcement for International MacDonald's day before we get another skit between the ears the GYRO PR spin remedy aural inoculation.
Credits: Jesse Bowden, Hector and Steve, Micro Jazz Operating System, et al.
For the radio drama, thanks to Marie, Martin P. Judy, and Warwick.
